Welcome to the Planet Bell blog!

I have been traveling the world since 2001, visiting 45+ countries on 11 extended trips. In 2005 I began working summers in Alaska which allowed me to save money and have time off for travel in the off-season. I currently live in two extremes, spending summers in Glacier Bay National Park and winters in Bangkok.

This blog is a mix of travel stories, photo essays, photo tips, and the occasional cartoon. Below are links to some of the most popular and useful posts that will help you get started exploring this website.

  1. Hi Jeff, Thanks a lot for consolidating the links to all these wonderful posts here.

Your photos and stories are really inspiring to explore the world and take good pictures.

    Thanks a lot for sharing.

    Have a great time.

  2. Wow, Jeff! Thanks for stopping by our site and leading me to yours. You certainly have an impressive travel record, and I am envious of the lifestyle you have created for yourself. Your India Photo Essays are gorgeous. We are actually headed to India this summer to do some trekking in the north. We will have about a week afterwards to explore elsewhere and have already seen Delhi, Agra and Rajasthan. Do you have any suggestions?

    • Varanasi. If you haven’t been there yet, it is like Rajasthan on steroids. Each morning pilgrims flood the river to bathe at sunrise and taking a boat trip at that time is mind-blowing. It is surprisingly peaceful also since there are no cars in the old city and along the water.

Southern India is really mellow, green and a lot cleaner. If you want a place to relax, Varkala is a nice, laid-back beach town. We flew home from Trivundum, a large city nearby, so it was convenient to end our trip there.

I am jealous! Have fun in India.

  3. Hi Jeff! I’m delighted to have discovered your site. I also like your START HERE… since it makes it easier to navigate. I’m a passionate hobby photographer as well, and have a web on my travels through Europe, primarily in our caravan. Will leave now, because I have some serious photo viewing to do. 🙂
